For nearly three decades high tech ceramic has played a central role in Rado’s approach to watchmaking. High tech ceramic timepieces are objects of art and craftsmanship: Their smooth stylish surfaces can be metallic or matte, crafted in an ever expanding array of colours.They are also a gentle approach to glamour: Lightweight and hypoallergenic, high tech ceramic watches are incredibly comfortable and can be worn by anyone with sensitive skin.In a pioneering process used by Rado, plasma high tech ceramic is forged in an oven at high temperatures. Gases activated at 20,000°C transform finished white ceramic into a unique material with an otherworldly metallic shine but without the use of any metal. In a process akin to modern alchemy, the colour of the ceramic is transformed without affecting its essential properties: lightness, hardness and wearer comfort. With their incomparable timeless brilliance, diamonds are a natural complement to the long-lasting beauty of Rado timepieces. Rado only uses fine white Top Wesselton diamonds. Additionally, Rado only buys stones that meet the requirements of the Kimberley process, which prevents the use of blood diamonds.
